What is MonKey?

Cryptocurrency wallet addresses are typically long strings of characters that can be nearly indistinguishable from each other. MonKey solves this long-standing problem through the creation of unique, monkey-shaped avatars from a hash value based on a user’s public key. These visual representations of wallet addresses serve to identify users while protecting the privacy of the account holders.

Each MonKey has a unique combination of fur and eye colour, and can have additional accessories in varying styles, such as hats, glasses, shirts, pants, mouth types, tail decorations, and more! Accessories have different rarities, and there are thousands of quintillions of possible MonKey combinations (that’s more than 10^21).

How Does It Work?

TLDR is: We take your Banano address, apply some extremely advanced science to it, and it turns into MonKey!

What’s New about MonKey?

MonKeys are doing a great job to represent BANANO addresses since more than 2 years already. Just recently, the Appditto team yekta (Yekta) and bbedward (Brandon) created Natricon , visual account representatives for Nano addresses. After those were finished, they came up with ideas of how the BANANO MonKey concept could be improved.

The result: All new open-source MonKey with state-of-the-art tech, including faster loading times, better weight system for accessories, better color algorithms, and easier integration. You can visit the repo at: https://github.com/appditto/monkey

Note: This upgrade changes how MonKeys are generated, and thus this required that the appearance of current MonKeys has changed. Hopefully you’ll like your new MonKey as much as your previous one which is now retired!

The new MonKey is already integrated in Kalium — BANANO’s mobile wallet (from version 2.2), and Creeper — BANANO’s network explorer!
Note: At the time of this announcement the changes to creeper aren’t pushed yet, should happen shortly.
